ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound
We utilize 4D technology that gives our radiologists many of the essential tools to make an accurate diagnosis. A color Doppler study can also be provided. Our high-end machines can utilize various properties and different frequencies of ultrasound waves to enable our radiologists to see abnormalities in the body.
Ultrasound is used for a wide range of exams, including vascular, obstetrical, gynecological, abdominal, breast, testicular and prostate studies, as well as for guidance during procedures such as biopsies, paracentesis and thoracentesis.
Applications of the ultrasound:
- Soft tissue of head and neck
- Chest include mediastinum
- Breast (unilateral or bilateral)
- Abdomen
- Transplanted kidney
- Pregnant uterus
- Transvaginal
- Scrotum and contents
- Infant
Why has my doctor recommended an ultrasound?
There are a number of reasons why your doctor may have recommended an ultrasound. Most commonly ultrasound is used to measure and evaluate female pelvic organs for assessment of the size, shape, and position of the uterus and ovaries. Additionally, they may be used to diagnose and assist in the treatment of abnormalities of the uterus structures, fibroid tumors, masses, cysts, and other types of tumors within the pelvis, as well as for measurement and evaluation of pelvic organs for pelvic inflammatory disease, post-menopausal bleeding, and more. Riverview also has a registered vascular technologist who performs and administers various vascular tests such as screening for peripheral vascular disease and aortic aneurysms.
